Dr. Krings received a Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Computer Science from UNL and a Dipl.Ing. in Electrical Engineering from the FH Aachen, Germany. He is a professor of Computer Science and has been at the University of Idaho since 1995.

- Computer and Network Security
- Data Communication Networks / Wireless Networks
- Scheduling Theory
The list of publications is probably not as maintained as it should be. For fun he loves to ride motorcycles and plays guitar in Bare Wires (blues/rock), Blue Funk Jailbreak (funk/blues), and Smokin' Mojo (blues). His newest CD with Bare Wires is titled "Sanctuary Highway", the CD with Mickael Chalumeaux is titled "Fi! J'ai le temps", both available at the usual places. Dr. Krings teaches classes mainly focusing on topics related to Fault-Tolerance System Design, Survivable Systems and Data Communication Systems.
