Dr. Krings received a Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Computer Science from UNL and a Dipl.Ing. in Electrical Engineering from the FH Aachen, Germany. He is a professor of Computer Science and has been at the University of Idaho since 1995.
His research interests include:
- Fault-tolerant & Survivable Systems and Networks
- Computer and Network Security
- Data Communication Networks / Wireless Networks
- Scheduling Theory

For fun he loves to ride motorcycles and plays guitar in the blues/rock band Bare Wires, the jazz band Musaiique, and the blues band Smokin' Mojo. His new CD with Bare Wires is Sanctuary Highway, the CD with Mickael Chalumeaux is titled Fi! J'ai le temps, and he tracks musical activities on facebook.
