Linking Computer Science and Engineering with Biomedical Engineering through Modeling

Presenter: Boris R. Bracio, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences

Abstract:

Societies all over the world experience an rapid increase of average age of their population and the associated medical expenditures. On one hand Biomedical Engineering provided the technologies which prolong our life, on the other hand it is tasked to introduce assisting technologies to ease the independent life of elderly people. To understand the biomedical problems we often use modeling and simulation, which connects biomedical engineering to Computer Science and Computer Engineering. This talk will introduce the field of biomedical engineering in regard to data and technologies. A special focus will be on the question how mathematical models can be derived for the complex medical processes. Among others the method of generalized equations will be presented and discussed. This technique can also be applied to other scientific field.
