Computer Science Colloquia

In conjunction with: Contemporary Issues in Computer Science (CS 400/501) (syllabus, lecture notes)

The Computer Science Colloquium is open to the public as part (roughly 33%) of a weekly seminar on contemporary issues in computer science. In North Idaho it is held Mondays at 3:30 in Engineering Physics Building (EP), rooms 202/204 and in Coeur D'Alene (room TBA). In Idaho Falls it is available at 4:30-5:20 in the ISU/UI Center for Higher Ed room 301. A separate section is available later that evening in Idaho Falls. The course emphasizes social, legal, and ethical issues in computing, bringing in speakers from research, industry, and government to add real-world perspectives.

Past semesters' speakers have included: Barry Boehm (USC), Krishna Kavi (UNT), Patrick McDaniel (Penn State), Michael Langston (Tenn).

Suggested topics for Fall 2018. Not scheduled or finalized yet. This list started from the book used in Spring 2018 (Baase/Henry).
