Standard Project Milestones

Purpose

Project milestones are major events that occur during the project.  A set of standard milestones are identified below and are to be incorporated into your project schedule. The schedule is based on a standard semester of 16 weeks which includes the week for Fall and Spring Recess.  The relative timing of these milestones  is recommended based on many semesters of experience.  Deviating from this recommendation should be preceded by careful consideration of the potential consequences and will require your instructor’s approval.  For some projects an additional incremental release may be beneficial.  Your customer may request a slight variance from this schedule to meet his or her individual needs.
