Description: Several years ago faculty and students in the Computer Science Department designed and implemented a Reconfigurable Attack Defend Instructional Computer Lab (RADICL) to provide an environment in which to perform security-related education and research in an air-gapped environment that would not constitute a potential threat to other departmental or networked systems. This project will extend the lab capabilities by providing the following capabilities:
- Store in a central server, the operating system, configuration, and software of each machine, as well as the network topology required to run an experiment and make it available on demand for activation using the lab's resources.
- Support multiple isolated simultaneous experiments.
- Implement a virtual air-gap environment that will allow outreach students to access the lab.
- Support connection to existing RADICL equipment.
- Support at least three distinct operating systems.
- Allow the lab to be reconfigured in 10 minutes or less.
- Prevent students from gaining physical access to lab equipment.
