CS 105 Course Grading

There will be numerous programming assignments. It is expected that students will do their own work on all components of the programs---unless otherwise specified.

Quizzes will normally be given every Friday on the material covered since the last quiz. Knowledge of material in this class is cumulative.

The final grade will be calculated based on a weighted sum of the points accumulated in each of the categories:

Programs30%
Quizzes25%(Sum of the 10 highest quiz scores)
Two one-hour exams25%
Comprehensive final exam20%

The course will be graded on the basis of 90% and above is an A, 80% a B, 70% a C, etc.

Programming Assignments

Throughout the course you will be required to write programs that implement or use selected portions of subjects described in class. NOTE: The material covered in this class is cumulative!

Programs are due by 5:00 PM of the indicated due date. See the next section for a discussion of ``grace days.'' If they are turned in by 5:00 PM the following week day, they will be worth 80%, by 5:00 PM the next week day, they are worth 60%, etc. Programs that do no function properly will not be accepted. A backup copy of each program submitted should be made in case the original gets lost after submission.

Grace Days

You will be given two ``grace days'' that may each be used to extend these program deadlines. Grace days are intended to help students handle personal emergencies and/or system problems that may arise during the semester. NO OTHER EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN EXCEPT IN CASES OF LONG-TERM MEDICAL PROBLEMS (LASTING MORE THAN A WEEK), so use these grace days sparingly.
