Dr. Krings received a Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Computer Science from UNL and a Dipl.Ing. in Electrical Engineering from the FH Aachen, Germany. He is a professor of Computer Science and has been at the University of Idaho since 1995. In the summer of 2020 he became professor emeritus.
His research interests include:
- Fault-tolerant & Survivable Systems and Networks
- Computer and Network Security
- Data Communication Networks / Wireless Networks
- Scheduling Theory
The list of publications is probably not as maintained as it should be. For fun he loves to ride motorcycles and plays guitar: Bare Wires (blues/rock), Blue Funk Jailbreak (funk/blues), and Smokin' Mojo (blues). His most recent CD with Bare Wires is titled "Sanctuary Highway", the CD with Mickael Chalumeaux is titled "Fi! J'ai le temps", both available at the usual places. The music profile and activities are at Reverbnation and facebook. The latest musical adventure is the band Blue Funk Seduction. The name is intentionally so similar to Blue Funk Jailbreak due to the type of music we play and in honor of our friend Brian Dyre.
Dr. Krings teaches classes mainly focusing on topics related to Fault-Tolerance System Design, Survivable Systems and Data Communication Systems.
